Aidan - Nov. 24, 2006
@ 12:34pm
As you can all conclude, the fact that we haven't put up any pictures on the Blog showing Aidan at home must mean that..............he's still in the hospital.
Yes, Aidan is still in the hospital after the optimistic date of coming home on November 23rd has come and pass. His jaundice levels were shown to have gone up a bit on Wednesday night, but now has steadily, if somewhat slowly, come down. The nurses are now telling us he "might" be able to come home tonight.....but the decision is still up in the air pending another blood test. Poor little guy has been through a lot these past two weeks, not to mention last night's horrific experience of an inexperienced nurse trying to extract his urine for a culture test. But he's survived through it all, and hopefully come this weekend he'll be at home. Will update again tonight...

He is home now!!!!! More tonight....

Aidan - Nov. 21, 2006
So Aidan might be coming home this Thursday!!!! The hospital wants all three of us to sleep overnight in a room together on Wednesday night, to see if we all survive come Thursday. If we last, Aidan will be able to come home with us!! This is exciting news and we hope that he can finally make the trek home where a plethora of toys, clothes and furniture await him!!!
Today, his mother stayed with him for 12 hours straight (isn't he a lucky boy??). He had another blood test done to see what his jaundice levels are at. We probably won't be updating on Wednesday night because we'll be in the hospital. We shall let everyone know Thursday morning whether he made it home.... :)
In the meantime, please enjoy these pics of Aidan (yes, we brought the camera today...):

Aidan - Nov. 20, 2006
Sorry everyone, we forgot to bring the camera to the hospital today... :( And it was unfortunate because it was a pretty eventful day for little Aidan:
1.) His cord fell off today, so now he has an actual belly button!
2.) His breastfeeding has improved to the point where, during the 9pm feeding, he didn't even have to use the feeding tube at all
3.) His jaundice levels seem to have stabilized
4.) His daddy gave him a bath... ;)
5.) And he switched from the isolation chamber to an actual cot (bed)
Oh, and he has a new hat too!! We'll get pictures of this tomorrow....but in the meantime, here's a few pictures we haven't put up yet...

Aidan - Nov. 19, 2006
Not too much to report today. Aidan's jaundice level has improved even more this morning so the doctor has stopped the phototherapy......for now. Janet and I still thought he looked a bit yellow (who would have thought an Asian would be too "yellow"...?) so the nurse told us to watch for some symptoms of jaundice, which include a reluctance to breastfeed because of drowsiness. We also didn't take too many pictures today, mainly because we were WAAAAAY too tired. So, enjoy these two pics!!

Aidan - Nov. 18, 2006
Good news, Aidan's jaundice level continues to improve. He's still receiving phototherapy treatment but hopefully by next week he'll have fully recovered from it and start working on his breastfeeding (which he'll have to demonstrate his proficiency in before the hospital lets him come home).
In other news, Aidan received his first bath given by his mother.
